All memos in this series are working drafts. Part 1 establishes the medium. One particle with a single mass, radius and magnetic moment, arranged in a three-dimensional lattice held at a fixed spacing. Everything after this is built from it. The speed of light appears here rather than in Part 4, because it is not a property of light — it is an elastic constant of the lattice.
